Session 1: Empower Seniors to Remain Well Empowering seniors by creating conditions to stay active and healthy within the community is critical for maintaining and enhancing their quality of life. Join us, along with other community care partners, in examining what this entails for seniors, how the sector and AIC can collaborate to achieve it, and the necessary enablers to facilitate this process.
Session 2: Re-able Seniors through Delaying and Reversing Frailty Re-abling seniors through delaying and reversing frailty, while supporting frailer seniors to receive care for longer within the community allow for them to enjoy richer, more fulfilling elder years. Join us, along with other community care partners, in examining what this means for seniors, how the sector and AIC can collaborate to achieve it, and the necessary enablers to facilitate the process.
Session 3: Improving Mental Health Support Join AIC and MOH to learn more about the National Mental Health and Well-being strategy which was recently launched. Find out how other community care organisations are supporting people with mental health needs across ages and where their caregivers can seek help; and how organisations are better linked up in localised networks.
Mr Dinesh Vasu Dash Chief Executive Officer, Agency for Integrated Care (AIC)
He was previously with the Ministry of Health, where he led the Crisis Strategy and Operations Group and the Healthier SG Implementation Office. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dinesh oversaw critical functions, including contact tracing and testing, quarantine and isolation, community treatment facilities and home recovery. He was instrumental in leading Singapore’s COVID-19 vaccination push, which enabled Singapore to achieve one of the highest vaccination and booster rates globally. Dinesh also managed MOH’s operational strategy for the prevention and control of infectious diseases, as well as medical preparedness and response to civil disasters and national emergencies. For his efforts, he was among the 32 Singaporeans who were awarded the Public Service Star (COVID-19) award in 2023 by the President of Singapore.
Prior to joining MOH, Dinesh was with the Singapore Armed Forces, where he held several leadership positions, including key roles in shaping the Ministry of Defence’s communications policy, operations and strategy.
Mr Lee Kwok Ming Group Director, Ageing Planning Office, Ministry of Health
Mr Lee Kwok Ming was appointed Group Director of the Ageing Planning Office in the Ministry of Health on 9 October 2023. He oversees the development and implementation of the national ageing agenda, to bring about the national vision of opportunities, communities, and a city for all ages. This whole-of-government work spans a wide range of areas including Age Well SG, aged care services, senior housing, seniors health & wellness and ageing research & development.
Associate Professor Carol Ma Head, Gerontology Programmes & Senior Fellow (Service-Learning & Community Engagement), Centre for Experiential Learning, SUSS
Associate Professor Carol Ma is a leading expert in Service-Learning (S-L) and Ageing in Asia, serving as Head of Gerontology Programmes at the Singapore University of Social Sciences. She spearheads curriculum development, community engagement, and research in gerontology, advocating for transdisciplinary education to address aging issues. Carol has led impactful projects, including geragogy guidelines, innovative dementia care programme, reminiscence facilitation programme and older adults' functional capacity under the WHO ICOPE framework, etc. She is an advisor for caregiver and eldercare services with the NCSS, a member of the Tote Board Community Health Fund (TBCHF) Evaluation Panel, and also serves as an advisor for the International Longevity Centre Singapore.
Mr Chern Siang Jye Group Chief, Sector & Partnerships Division, Agency for Integrated Care (AIC)
He oversees AIC’s engagement efforts with partners in the Community Care sector. AIC supports the Community Care sector to be ready for the growing and evolving needs of our population and creates networks and partnerships to enable Seniors to live well and age gracefully. At AIC, Siang Jye previously oversaw strategy and corporate functions, sector leadership development, grant making and research and data.
Prior to AIC, Siang Jye led the Strategy and Infrastructure Planning functions within the Ministry of Health. He also led the Strategic Planning division, oversaw Singapore’s Intellectual Property policy development and drove projects to improve access to legal aid and insolvency schemes at the Singapore Ministry of Law.
He started his career at the Singapore Economic Development Board where he worked on Government-Government projects.
Ms Junie Foo Former Chief Executive Officer, Methodist Welfare Services
Junie Foo was a veteran corporate banker who successfully pivoted to the social services sector to manage a charitable organisation with nursing homes, welfare home, senior care centres and family service centres. She recently stepped down from the CEO role to spend time with her ageing parents.
She is President of SCWO ( Singapore Council of Women's organizations) and a member of the Council of Board Diversity. She became the first female chairperson on the Singapore Kindness Movement and sees kindness playing a significant part in an ageing society.
