About the Event

A panel discussion between Dr. Prem Pillay, a senior consultant specialist Neurosurgeon at the Neuro Spine and Pain center, Mt Elizabeth, Singapore and Sunil Raghavan, the founder of Table Tennis for Good, a young Parkinson’s warrior and a senior manager at Microsoft, Singapore.
 
Mr Varad Kumaravelu, the table tennis convenor at NUSS and a Vice President in a global investment bank will be moderating the discussion.
 
All three participants are passionate table tennis players talking about Active Ageing by playing table tennis.
 
Join them to know more about to their different journeys and insights into the benefits of playing the game.



About the Speakers:

Mr Sunil Raghavan, a Singapore - based IT Professional and a table tennis enthusiast, was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2015. His young Son was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called Cardio.

Dr Prem Pillay, is a Senior Consultant Singapore Specialist Neurosurgeon (Neuro+Spine) who previously worked for many years at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital in the USA (ranked as one of the top Hospitals in the USA and the world) where he became Chief Resident Neurosurgeon and won the Lower Award and then the Pudenz Award for his research. He was mentored by top neurosurgeons at the Cleveland Clinic including Dr Joseph Hahn, Dr John Little (an expert on difficult spine surgery) , Dr Issam Awad, Dr Russell Hardy (a Lumbar Spine expert who wrote a textbook on the Lumbar Spine) and Dr Ian Kalfas (a world spine expert on Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery and Image Guided Spine surgery). He is now a Senior Spine Specialist at the Neuro Spine and Pain Center at Mt Elizabeth Medical Center and Hospital and at the Advanced Spine Center at Mt Elizabeth Novena Medical Center and Hospital in Singapore.

 

About the Moderator:

Mr Varad Kumaravelu is a Vice President (Technology) at an Investment Bank in Singapore with more than 25 years of experience working in multiple countries.  He was born in India and now calls Singapore his proud home.  Varad started playing table tennis when he was 7yrs old and has reconnected with his passion again 4yrs back.  Varad aims to train hard and get a veterans international rank someday
