Mr Ong Boon Hwee is the CEO of Stewardship Asia Centre (SAC), a Singapore-based thought leadership centre supported by Temasek Trust. SAC focuses on promoting stewardship and governance across Asia. Dedicated to inspiring and leading change, Mr Ong directs SAC’s efforts towards propagating the concept of responsible wealth creation so that organisations can create economic and societal value over time to benefit the wider community and future generations.

In his varied professional career, Mr. Ong has extensive working experience in the civil service as well as the commercial sectors. Prior to establishing SAC, Mr Ong was managing his own consultancy firm focusing on leadership development, organisational capacity-building, and strategic planning. He was also the COO of Singapore Power (SP) overseeing SP’s business operations in Singapore as well as driving the business growth of SP Global-Solutions, which was SP’s regional consultancy arm.

At Temasek Holdings, Mr Ong was the Managing Director responsible for Strategic Relations, and concurrently the CEO of Temasek Management Services which managed subsidiaries of diverse businesses including logistics, IT, training and consulting. He also contributed to the establishment of new institutions including the Business Leadership Centre and the Wealth Management Institute. In his earlier military career, Brigadier-General Ong held various key command and staff positions in the Singapore Armed Forces and Ministry of Defence.

Over the last two decades, Mr Ong has served on the boards of companies of diverse sectors including infrastructure, technology, security, telecoms and learning institutes. He also served on the boards of, and had actively contributed to non-profit organisations including research agencies, foundations, universities and youth development institutions.

Mr Ong is the co-author of the book – “Inspiring Stewardship” and has published a number of papers and articles on stewardship. He has a First Class Honours in Economics from the National University of Singapore, and a Masters Degree in Military Arts and Science from the United States Command and General Staff College.

Mark Goyder

Mr Mark Goyder is the founder and trustee of Tomorrow’s Company (TC), a London-based business think tank which he founded in 1996 and led until his retirement in 2017. TC works with business leaders, investors, policymakers and partners to champion the importance of business purpose beyond profit, as well as to inspire and lead businesses to be a force for good in society.

TC has paved the way for the redefinition of directors’ duties in the UK’s Companies Act as well as the emergence of the UN Principles of Responsible Investment and Stewardship Code in the United Kingdom. It has organised a series of business-led inquiries, including Restoring Trust: Investment in the twenty-first century and Tomorrow’s Global Company: Challenges and Choices.
 
Mr Goyder has also held advisory roles, acting as a critical friend when working with leaders in British Airways, British Telecommunications, Camelot, Novo Nordisk and Walgreens Boots Alliance.
 
Prior to establishing TC, he had spent fifteen years as a manager in manufacturing. He had an active political career serving as a Kent County Councillor and was an occasional Times of London columnist. A prolific speaker, he has addressed audiences all over the world. He was awarded the Institute of Management Studies Tillers Millennium Trophy for best speaker.
 
In recent years, Mr Goyder has concentrated on the issue of board and investor responsibilities for stewardship. In 2010, TC brought together a group of institutional investors to form the Stewardship Alliance. Mr Goyder later co-authored a report with the Institute for Family Business on Family Business Stewardship. He is also the author of the book — Living Tomorrow’s Company: Rediscovering the Human Purposes of Business.
 
Mr Goyder has a degree in Economics and Social and Political Science from the University of Cambridge. In 2019, his work has been recognised by the award of an Honorary Doctorate in Civil Law by the University of East Anglia.
