Appreciating our Heritage: Peranakan / Hainanese Culture and Food Tour
This August, the NUS Office of Alumni Relations brings you unique heritage experiences to check out Peranakan and Hainanese culture.
Peranakan Culture and Food Tour (24 August, Saturday, 9.30am - 11.30am) FULLY SUBSCRIBED
Join us for this Peranakan heritage walk, talk and tea. Take a closer look at the vernacular architecture during the walk then deep dive into the cultural practices and rituals during the tea session at the Straits Enclave.
Take a step (literally!) into learning more about Hainanese culture with us. Join us on a delectable walking tour to discover the history of the Hainanese communities and their food in Singapore.

Terms and Conditions:
- Registration for the event is on a first-come, first-serve basis, and priority is for NUS alumni and students. NUS alumni and students will be required to provide details on your NUS alumni and student ID to enjoy the subsidised rate.
- Registration fees are strictly non-refundable.
- The food included in the tour is no pork no lard.
- The venue is unable to accommodate any food allergies.
- Participants will be required to walk for the tour and crossing of roads will be expected.
- Photography and videography will be carried out for archival and marketing purposes. NUS and its event partners may use some or all of these images/videos in their print publications, digital platforms and marketing channels.
- By registering for this event, you hereby consent to NUS collecting, using and/ or disclosing your personal data to third parties (including any third party located outside of Singapore) for the purpose of processing, handling and managing your participation in the event stated herein.
- The organiser reserves the right to make changes to the event programme – Including but not limited to speakers, schedule, and content – without prior notice.
- The organiser reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the event due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the organiser's control. Registered participants will be notified via email or other means of communication provided during registration.
